So far so good! I got a decent deal on this due to the lightning sale. I bought a few upgrades like the Kingston 16gb DDR4 RAM and Samsung Evo 850 500 GB SSD. After installation, this thing is running like a champ. I had a few issues though with the upgrades. The most problematic was migrating the Windows 10 OS to the SSD. The Samsung migration software did not work for me and I spent countless hours trying to fix it. I was getting a continuous loop boot on start up and thought that I had bricked my brand new laptop. Long story short I had to restore it and use a 3rd party migration software from Paragon to put the OS into the SSD. Now, its super fast on start up and works flawlessly.

Update 12/15/16: Still works great. Using my Xbox one controller to play games. Im sold and converted to pc gaming. No more consoles for me as I'm researching into building a desktop gaming rig. I'll still use this laptop for school and gaming.

Lame as f, for the last whole year, it wents blue and no responds all the time and it went black this morning. The heating fan is a mess and it is always overheated, also, the processing and tome wo tuen it on？2 mins！2 mins to start my laptop！If I can ever get out of my door this thing will be so broken and throw!

I’ve used this laptop for about 4 years and it’s still running strong. Swapped to 32gb ram xmas 2017. Did not, but probably should have thrown an ssd in since it has a spot for one. Overall, a solid base to build to meet your needs.

Was a bit disappointed in the speakers. It’s decent for a laptop, but I wouldn’t put them over a $20 bluetooth speaker either. The red speaker/vents on the bottom piece are just accents as well. “Sub” is non-exhistant. Was disappointed in sound quality given their advertising.

Only issues I’ve had are the hdd failing after 3yrs and the wireless card after 4yrs. Both probably could have been upgraded initially, but still a cheap and easy fix.

Overall I still love this thing. I don’t game on it, but it’s a solid base to build upon. Given this thing is 5 years old and can still match specs of 2020 $1200-1500 laptops for $2-400 in upgrades, I think it’s still a good buy 4 years later.

I was not 100% satisfied with this purchase. For the first time Amazon cheated me, after so many years of buying there. This Lenovo Y700 was offered to me with 16 Gb of RAM and a solid state hard disk of 512 Gb. When I received the computer I only had 8 Gb of RAM and no solid state disk. At the end, since I was in Venezuela, I could not start the return process. I had to stay with the team with the limitations that it brought. I really regret having to rate Amazon and the seller on a negative note. However, had I been in another country they could have answered me for the purchase.

At the beginning everything was fine. The computer was running smooth but somehow the laptop started to reset by itself. Lenovo said it was a problem related to bios and that it had to be updated. Didn't solve the problem so I made a factory reset and since that moment Nvidia gpu stopped working. This "beast" turned into a simple laptop with an Intel display adapter. I've been struggling with a solution for almost a month and nothing solves the problem...

In the beginning, it took a while to get used to the heavy weight and crisp screen but this laptop is worth it for the price and the features it provides. It has a good design and strong metallic structure. Some cons were with the screen blacking out after being sleep which was fixed by factory resetting and the bloatware, which takes a while to remove. I would recommend this laptop for anyone to buy.

I have run into the seemingly common issue with their speaker system.For whatever reason, when playing audio through the laptop's internal speaker it will sometimes cut out all the high frequency in the audio, making it sound muffled.The only way to fix this is to put the laptop in sleep mode and then log back in.For a laptop that's well over $900 you should expect higher quality.
