Update after 2 months of use: If I had to buy it again now, I probably wouldn’t! The main reason is that there is a BIG problem with the touchpad, and apparently it happens a lot with Dell laptops (search “Dell touchpad freeze). It would freeze without any reason, and if I plug in a mouse and then unplug it, the touchpad will simply stop working until I reboot. I have reinstalled the driver, but it doesn’t work. I am really disappointed at Dell, as I thought they were a quality brand.
Here is my original review: When I saw this laptop, I thought it would be perfect for me, and I haven’t been disappointed after a few days: – the 8GB RAM are really useful and make it really quick (I often work with video and graphic design software), – the sound is pretty clear and can be turned on fairly high, – the battery life is good (more than 5h playing games, editing video and watching videos, – the backlit keyboard is a cool feature, – Wifi works well, – nice design and good price! Plus, it has this touchscreen, which I was curious for, but I haven’t found a true interest of having this on a non 2-in-1 laptop. It’s just fun to scroll or zoom on pictures with your fingers sometimes. Maybe I’ll find a better function with usage. I received it on time, and had no problem starting it and installing any app.
A few things I don’t like and that I want to share as it surprised me: – The touchpad is weird: the scroll is very slow, even after changing the settings. – It’s pretty heavy! – There is no light that indicates if the laptop is on, or if the wifi/Bluetooth is activated… I know it’s a detail, but I was used to it. – It’s not possible to turn off the sound of the Windows notifications without turning off the all notifications or the sound (it is a Windows 10 issue).
Anyway, I think that’s a great laptop, just need to get used to its specificities.
Forget the competition! I’ve had them all, similar laptops that I’ve had from HP and Lenovo, can’t hold a candle to this unit.

I got this unit for my 12 year old daughter and the bring-up was seamless, no drivers to find and load, or even to update! Bravo again to Dell.
Lastly, lets talk features! The keyboard is back-lit, which is a very nice feature that you usually don’t find, and the screen is a touch-screen too, even though neither Amazon or Dell seem to be trumpeting these features.
Finally, lets talk battery performance! This unit gets awesome battery performance while still being lightweight, even when my daughter plays Minecraft on it!
So, as far as price/performance/quality this unit is the way to go, as I strongly recommend this device for anyone needing a Windows 10 Laptop PC!
8/17/2016 – 1 Star – The computer doesn’t recognize a boot volume and therefore wouldn’t turn on and is now a very big paper weight. Since I missed the 30 days window to return or switch it with another computer, it seems I’m out the whole $417.I am so disappointed.I will not be buying any more computers from Amazon or any of their partners.There’s just too much risk involved.
Update 8/23/2016 – 3 Stars – I got on the phone with Dell.Apparently the computer is under warranty for a few months.Dell person was very courteous and made a simple change (the wrong checkbox was selected in the BIOS, probably by DELL, making the computer not boot up anymore after the first Windows 10 update) which allowed the computer reboot as if nothing had happened.Not putting it back all the way to 5 stars as customers should not have to go through a heart attack before being able to use their computers.
Update 11/3/2016 – 1 star – A small crack in the LCD developed simply by handling the computer in the regular manner.I never dropped the computer nor did it hit anything by mistake or otherwise. Over a couple of weeks the crack covered almost the whole screen making it unusable. Dell support properly recognized the problem (the pictures I sent them helped) and told me to send the computer to them and that the problem might be under warranty.I spent about $25 to send it since I no longer had the packaging.I just got a call from Dell saying that the item is not under warranty as it only covers defective parts. If what happened to my touch screen is not a defective part, nothing is!The cost to repair it is more than half the cost of the computer.I told them to just send it back.After being a lifelong Dell customer, it’s time for me to find another vendor.I know I have to pay more for a Mac, but at least they stand behind their products. And the Dell customer service should have known what my warranty covers, and should have saved me from wasting the extra $25 to send the computer to them!
This was the first laptop I bought online and I was very apprehensive at first. But it was a good deal and I decided to go for it. It’s been a couple of months now since I got it and I decided to put it through its paces before I put a review. The laptop performs very well. No problems so far. I don’t game at all so cannot comment on that. It handles typical computing work quite easily: email, browsing, word, excel, etc. Videos play nicely and display is quite good and vibrant. All in all a very good machine. But the same thing can’t be said of the packaging. The package arrived half torn and half open and my heart sank, thinking that the laptop wouldn’t have survived such a beating. But it did and now only time will tell how long it will last…
