I decided to follow through with my PC upgrade but was not able to spend too much money. This particular configuration just happened to be a perfect fit (i also got one while it was on sale, so im even happier). It feels great to be running all my stuff on a quadcore now after having Pentium 4 for too long. Actually, my main criteria for selection were the processor and RAM and Athlon 640 combined with 4GB Memory is plenty for my purposes. Having 1TB drive is awesome as well since I do not have to worry about running out of space any time soon. I do play some demanding video games so I already had a more or less decent GPU (Radeon 5670) and a 430w power supply (i believe this one has 250W), both of which I installed as soon as opened the box. The result – I got myself a pretty hot rig while staying on a tight budget. Games like Left 4 Dead, Modern Warfare and Battlefield2 run smoothly with highest levels of details.
The only thing that took me sometime to adjust was switching to Windows 7, which feels a lot different from XP – the system i’ve been running all the while since it was introduced. But I am beginning to like it, so its working out OK. 7 seems pretty stable and is definitely very much appealing in terms of graphics.
Basically, I think this PC would be a great buy for people looking to do basic computer stuff – its got all the faculties. However, if you are planning to play some recent titles you should definitely look into investing in dedicated video card and a stronger power supply unit.
I purchased this on Amazon last week. I tried to recreate this computer on HP.com but every time that I did, it was at least $100.00 more.
First I will give the PROs to this computer. It is extremely fast right out of the box. It has 4GB of RAM and a Quad Core 3GHtz processor. You also get a 1TB hard drive. The DVD-Burner writes disks very quickly and also reads and imports data quickly.
Cons: There are not many cons, but the inclusion of all the bloatware installed on this computer was a pain. Everything from Blio, Hulu, etc. are installed on this computer when you first boot it up. Most of it is easy to uninstall so its not that big of an issue. Also if you are a gamer, this will not play the most recent games as well as something more powerful. If you are wanting to play the newest releases on your pc, look elsewhere.
Final thoughts: I use this for pictures, home videos, music, and internet. For my personal use, this is a great computer.
I loved this computer for the 15 months it lasted until the hard drive crashed. I decided not to buy a new hard drive and see if I could get it going again, since it didn’t trust the quality of the remaining components.
To me, over $550 is too much to pay for a computer that lasted 15 months.So I will not buy a HP product again. I bought a Dell as a replacement and am hopeful it will last. Plus I have noticed that the Dell dual-core is faster than my HP was, even though it was a quad-core, and I paid less for the Dell new.
For less than $400 you cannot get a better or more powerful computer. Massive hard drivequad core processor wireless connection. If you need a computer for hard core games or run programs that compete with NASA space program then this computer is not for you. If you’re going to use this machine for office or school, music, movies and internet you can’t beat it. Thing is blazing fast, can run seperate programs on dual monitors and has space in the tower to upgrade. You may be able to find a no-name box that can do more for less but I’ll stick with HP. I bought this computer less than 6 months ago for my daughter.We have had nothing but problems with it in regards to the graphics.It was sent back and supposedly repaired and now it is not working again.In-house service did not work also.

This is the most sophisticated PC I’ve ever owned. I love the quad core processor (fast) and the 1TB hard drive. For me this PC is a big step up and I found it extremely easy to set up, which is a positive for someone like me who’s not a computer geek. My only regret is that is doesn’t have Windows 7 Ultimate, rather than Home Premium. I miss the option of making documents in Compatible mode in Ultimate.
